The pre-gens have been a specific problem in the playtest - on par with the monsters in terms of issues.

The more I look at it, the more it seems like the Pre-gens were not exactly created using the character creation rules. Or possibly they were created by people new to the rules.

But hey, that's why we playtest!Jeremy Murphyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17072164588443858336noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-985749207871898668.post-53203309181136083072012-09-10T03:55:25.045-07:002012-09-10T03:55:25.045-07:00I'm pretty sure we found a problem with the Fi...I'm pretty sure we found a problem with the Fighter Pre-gen as well. The short sword is a finesse weapon, which means it should use your Dex instead of Strength to hit and damage, making it +7/1d6+7 rather than +4/1d6+1. That's a pretty big error to make for a fighter, especially as it's obviously chosen a short sword for the finesse qualities.Stories of a woman who retired to the Aussie Bushhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03022809077453235732noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-985749207871898668.post-85892802443665054042012-08-30T22:55:29.672-07:002012-08-30T22:55:29.672-07:00I do like the modular design, too. But it's also weird that they seem to be using 2e (not a very popular edition because of all the splatbooks, apparently) as a chassis.

Still, with the Sorcerer and Warlock I'm already seeing Jeremy Murphyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17072164588443858336noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-985749207871898668.post-24523389697344201942012-08-30T21:34:32.961-07:002012-08-30T21:34:32.961-07:00I had a similar '2nd edition flashback' wh...I had a similar '2nd edition flashback' when I looked at the first playtest packet. I had started fiddling with the Advanced Edition rules for Labyrinth Lord to produce something that had more interesting character options than Basic or Rules Cyclopedia (as someone who learned on 2e, having 'race-as-class' classes will never sit right with me) but not the time suck that was 3e/PFComradeGnullhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09210806450294521289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-985749207871898668.post-60463555417934100172012-08-22T10:56:15.467-07:002012-08-22T10:56:15.467-07:00Philo posted something here, but Blogger seems to ...Philo posted something here, but Blogger seems to have eaten it.

It isn't that the rogue isn't proficient with a sling - he is. It's that he doesn't HAVE one - he's proficient with it, AND halflings get a damage dice upgrade (which is a character generation feature that I REALLY like, btw - giving damage dice upgrades to iconic weapons is a great idea) on slings.Jeremy Murphyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17072164588443858336noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-985749207871898668.post-2486579691692253912012-08-22T07:50:52.585-07:002012-08-22T07:50:52.585-07:00Looks like the thief will get night vision at 2nd ...Looks like the thief will get night vision at 2nd level and that the pre-gen should have had a second Background for a total of 6 skills.
